It is based on Lipid-Colloid Technology (TLC), an innovation patented by Laboratorios Urgo. It is a non-adhesive, non-occlusive, flexible lipid-colloid interface composed of a polyester weft impregnated with hydrocolloid particles (carboxymethylcellulose), paraffin oil, vaseline and polymers.
When in contact with the exudate of the lesion, the hydrocolloid particles gel and interact with the vaseline component of Urgotul forming a lipid-colloid contact interface that creates favorable conditions for the healing process (healing in wet environment).
Although its chemical composition is fat, Urgotul is not greasy to the touch, so it does not adhere to the ulcer or its contours: the changes are not painful or traumatic for the ulcer.
All of this results in specific properties:
- Maintenance of a moist environment favourable to scarring - Gelation in contact with the lesion - Non-traumatic removal for newly formed tissues - Patient painlessness of dressing renewal
Indications:
It is indicated for local cures of varicose and decubitus ulcers in the granulation and epidermization stage.
Urgotul's great flexibility and conformability make it especially suitable for covering unfractuous lesions or lesions that are difficult to locate, as well as for locating cavitated lesions.
Instructions for use:
Wash the lesion with physiological serum. In case of previous use of an antiseptic, carefully rinse the lesion with physiological serum before the application of Urgotul. Remove the protective fins. It can be cut with sterile material to adapt its size to the lesion. Cover Urgotul with a secondary dressing: sterile compresses fastened with an extensible bandage, a multi-extensible tape or a tubular mesh. Thanks to Urgotul's non-adherence to the lesion, changes will be made every 2 or 4 days depending on the lesion and its evolution.
Precautions and warnings:
Adheres to latex surgical gloves. It is therefore recommended to moisten the gloves with physiological serum to facilitate the handling of Urgotul. In the presence of clinical signs of infection (fever, local symptoms) the treatment can, under medical decision, be maintained in association with an adequate antibiotherapy in general. In case of deep, fractuous or fistulous lesions, leave a part of the Urgotul dressing visible and accessible to the outside of the lesion. Do not re-sterilize. Store the Urgotul dressing horizontally. Single-use sterile packaging: The reuse of a single-use product can lead to risks of infection.
